In no particular order:

  • "Wonderful Christmastime" - This one song probably embodies all of Paul McCartney's strengths and weaknesses as a songwriter. An incredibly catchy tune paired with utterly asinine lyrics.

  • "That's Christmas To Me" - I really want to hate Pentatonix. There's not very much reason for it, apart from their terrible cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" (listen at your own risk).

  • "Baby, It's Cold Outside" - ... I linked to a She & Him version of the song which reverses the gender dynamics, which is ... interesting, I guess? They don't really do anything with it. Also, it's very up-tempo, which makes it difficult to enjoy the harmonies and wordplay of the song, but also provides much less time to consider the implications of the line "Say, what's in this drink?"

  • "Spin Me A Christmas" - I am quite proud to say that I had never even heard of this song before reading this article. But now that I have, ...

A list of not-terrible Christmas songs that I love as well

  • "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" - original lyrics only, please

  • "River" by Joni Mitchell

  • "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day"

  • "O Holy Night" - full lyrics

  • "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas"
